Sun Sets, Venus Exits

South San Francisco
June 5, 2012

Solar filter, clouds, atmospheric distortion, and shooting close to the water as the sun was setting provided this strange color and shape of the final exit of the planet Venus from the sun's path. This pattern repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years. The last transit was in 2004 but wasn't visible here in the U.S.
